I. We all have a need for POWER.
“God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” Genesis 1:28
A. The five basic commands for us:
Be Fruitful
Multiply
Replenish
Subdue (Conquer)
Dominate (Control)
B. The first thing for a man to conquer and control is himself.
Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control. Proverbs 25:28
You will not get to a right place in a wrong way.
II. Two major Biblical terms for POWER
A. exusia= Authority
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Matthew 28:18
"Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12
1. Don’t look at your circumstances, look to the book and the Spirit that lives inside of you!
2. You have the authority to arrest those things in your life:
In the name of Jesus
Not based on you, but on the authority vested in you!
B. dunamis= Explosive Power
"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 26:64
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. Romans 1:16
“If you don’t respect the exusia,
you will have to deal with the dunamis!”
you will have to deal with the dunamis!”
III. The Results of a God Given Power
If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. 1 Timothy 5:8
You will never be able to provide for your family without first conquering and controlling your own life.
See Luke 11:21-26
IV. The Source of This Power & the Means to Receive it
Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. 1 Corinthians 11:3
Submission to God frees God to give you power.
Why? You know what it’s like to be vulnerable!
A. If you are not submitted to God, why would He cause her to submit to you!
B. You cannot demand what you have forfeited!
Is it time for you to quit being a victim of your life and circumstances and begin to conquer and control your life through the Spirit?
